Giles and his crew were in a minor car accident on April 25, 2003, outside of a Manhattan nightclub when another driver slammed into the back of the car they were in.
The men in the other car got out and made an effort to rob Giles and his buddies. Giles was shot once in the abdomen and was left with only minor wounds.
During the incident, around 44 rounds were fired at Giles and his team in total, and one of their number, bodyguard Eric Mangrum, was murdered.
