Ginger Zee is an ABC News meteorologist who reports on the country’s weather on “Good Morning America” and across ABC News broadcasts and digital platforms.
Previously, she was a weather forecaster for “Good Morning America Weekend.” In addition, Zee hosts an original ABC News digital series called “Food Forecast.”
Zee has reported on almost every major weather event and dozens of historic storms since beginning her career at ABC News.

Early Life of Ginger Zee
Ginger Renee Zuidgeest, known professionally as Zee, was raised in Orange County, California. She is the daughter of Dawn Zuidgeest-Craft (née Hemleb) and Robert Zuidgeest.
The family lived in Michigan before she was a year old.
Zee’s Dutch father, Rick, named her after the Gilligan character on Gilligan’s Island because of his love for the show.
Zee has a stepfather named Carl Craft in her extended family, as well as two half-sisters Adrianna and Elaina Craft.
Zee’s grandparents were Adriaan Cornelis “Adrian” or “Arie” Zuidgeest and Hillegonda “Hilda” Zuidgeest (née VanderShoor), both of whom immigrated from the Netherlands to the United States.
Zee’s maternal great-grandfather was George Joseph Hemleb, and her maternal grandmother was Paula Adeline Wesner.

Zee began working in television, first as a reporter and news anchor for WLAV-FM and then at WBMA-LD ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, Alabama under chief meteorologist James Spann.
She then moved to Chicago to work for NBC Owned & Operated station WMAQ before joining WeatherNation as a producer.
Zee was asked to fill in as a guest meteorologist on the weekend edition of The Today Show while working at WMAQ from 2006-2011, and this satisfied her high school ambition.
Zee is also an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist.
