Jeff Wittek injured himself in June 2020 while filming a stunt in Utah with the Vlog Squad and Dobrik. Dobrik illegally operated an excavator in a shallow lake while Jeff swung from a rope attached to the end of the excavator’s arm.
When Dobrik started spinning the yarn too fast, Jeff hit the excavator. Thus caused him to fall into the water with his head facing down with his foot stuck in the rope.
As a result, his skull and the left eye socket got fractured; further, his hip and foot broke and damaged his leg ligaments. Jeff continued to regularly film his Jeff’s Barbershop series without addressing the injuries.
Nearly after ten months, in April 2021, The docuseries Don’t Try This at Home was released. It comprises five episodes in which Jeff explains the circumstances surrounding the injury, describes how he recovered from a near-death accident and shares how this incident affected his relationship with Dobrik.
After the first episode’s release, Jeff changed the footage to Patreon because his injuries were deemed too graphic for YouTube; In the first ten days, his Patreon account gained around 37,000 followers.
