Early Life of Laura Davies
Laura Davies was born on 5 October 1963 (age 58) in Coventry, Warwickshire, England to Rita Allen and Dave Davies. Her father was supposed to be an engineer and he had worked for Lockeed Aircraft Corporation.
Davies began her career as an amateur international competitor for Great Britain, amassing a notable record. In 1983, she was the English Intermediate Champion, the 1984 Welsh Open Stroke Play Champion, and South Eastern Champion in both 1983 and 1984.
She was named to the Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup team in 1984. She debuted as a professional player in 1985.
Professional Career
In 1985, after winning both Rookie of the Year and Order of Merit honors on the WPGET (now Ladies European Tour), Davies began her professional career. As International Newcomer of the Year 1985, she subsequently claimed the Sports Journalists’ Association Peter Wilson Trophy.
